The Marathon Plus is Schwalbe's best-selling model and the most puncture-resistant pneumatic tire available.

The patented, 5mm thick SmartGuard layer provides a significant advantage in rolling resistance compared to generic products. This durable all-weather urban tread features an endurance compound that rolls for thousands of kilometres with excellent performance characteristics and low abrasion. Schwalbe uses a proportion of recycled rubber from old latex products within the SmartGuard construction.

The "Anti-Aging" side wall features an additional Twin Skin rubber coating that protects against cuts and allows for uniform coloring, ensuring it lasts much longer before developing cracks when subjected to use with low air pressure. While it is impossible to guarantee that a flat will never happen, the Marathon Plus has the best defense against everyday tire wreckers such as glass, flints, or metal shards. The 5mm thick puncture guard even protects against thumbtacks. It is recommended to use a pressure gage to adjust tire pressures as a common 'thumb check' is insufficient due to the special construction of the Marathon Plus.

Due to these properties, the Marathon Plus is an ideal choice for E-Bikes. This tire has achieved a passing rating for use with E-Bikes up to 25km/h (E-25), with safety being the most important criterion for this recommendation. Please note that E-Bike rated tires can also be used with non-E-Bikes and are generally more durable than standard tires.
